Session 1 : The evolution of Li-ion Battery solutions for renewable energy

Dr. Rashi Gupta, fondly known as “Batterywali of India”, is the pioneer of manufacturing of Advanced Lithium Batteries in India alongwith the “Worlds Smartest Lithium Battery”. She is the Founder & Managing Director of Vision Mechatronics Private Ltd, leading it towards a name to reckon for in the field of Robotics, Renewable Energy & Energy Storage. A Women Entrepreneur who has been fearless & ferocious in creating a brand for herself & the company in these male dominated fields. If one takes a closer look at the alchemy of this achiever, two distinct virtues pop up, besides perseverance & hard work. These are: pioneering spirit & willingness. Coupled with an impressive background, it was not therefore surprising that she became a prominent name in the Renewable Energy Sector of India and is featured as Asia’s Most Influential Women in Renewable Energy, 2020. She has been working on Gender Equality and Women Empowerment issues globally. She has been Awarded the “Global Women Leadership 2021”. She has also been featured amongst first 50 “Women in Stem by CII 2021” for her contribution and excellence in STEM field. She has been Awarded “Corporate Guru World Award 2021” for her work in SDG5 & SDG7,

Session 2: Role of wind energy in energy transition

Dr. Jami Hossain is elected as Vice President and Technical Chair, World Wind Energy Association (WWEA); Member, Executive Board of International Association of Wind Engineering (IAWE) Associated with wind energy ever since first windfarms were set up in Asia in 1985. Currently functioning as a Technical Expert in multilateral and bilateral Clean Energy Programs such as those from ADB, The Worldbank, EU and USAID. Also supporting windfarm owners and IPPs in operations and optimization of assets and in the preparatory work for auctions. Worked on such projects in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Malaysia. Associated with the first initiatives on Offshore in India including the EU supported First Offshore Wind Project of India (FOWPI). Have been worked on building organizations in diverse RE related businesses, i.e., WTG manufacturing, Projects, technology transfer, and wind resource assessment. Undertook, grid integration studies, program management, asset management, research, policy & advocacy, and consulting. Earlier association with TERI, Winrock International, Indian Wind Energy Association (INWEA), Indian Wind Power Association (IWPA), Solar Energy Society of India (SESI), and Independent Power Producers Association (IPPAI). Provided initial knowledge incubation to organizations in Renewable Energy such as IDFC and Green Infra Ltd. (Now Sembcorp). Facilitated technology transfer and renewable energy policies in international forums such as WWEA, IRENA, IEA, Union of Concerned Scientists, etc. Carried out a GIS-based assessment of the potential for Onshore and Offshore wind farms in India, widely used by stakeholders. The Assessment has provided the basis to the Government to set a target of 60 GW for wind and 175 GW for RE. Initiated the First Offshore Project of India (FOWPI) in association with EU and COWI. The research includes fundamental work on the identification of new wind distributions, FFT based long term correction in WRA, and optimization of wind-solar hybrid systems for small applications. Authored many publications and books such as “Emergence of the Wind Option” and “Earth@Risk.”
